Inuit coming of age tradition
In North Baffin Island, their coming of age tradition is for boys to go into the wilderness where they are accompanied by their fathers. The boys are about 11or 12years old when this event happens. In the wilderness they test their hunting skills as well as adapt to the cold artic weather. A shaman is also with them and it is said that he " would be called to open the lines of communication between men and animal." (globalcitizen.org). The tradition today now applies to girls and they are also able to test their hunting skills. ( photo is also found from globalcitizen.org)
